The mission of the Grading Conference is to provide an annual meeting place to promote the use of grading practices that are focused on equity and authentic learning. We strive to:

  • Grow and support a thriving community of practitioners,
  • Provide professional development related to grading practices that meets the many needs of our diverse community of practitioners,
  • Promote and disseminate research on grading practices, and
  • Facilitate systemic change in grading practices.

The 2025 Grading Conference will be held June 11–13, 2025

The Grading Conference is the flagship event of the Center for Grading Reform. Hosted virtually each June, we bring together hundreds of postsecondary educators to share innovations and research related to grading in higher education.

Call for Volunteers

The Conference Organizing Team is calling for self-nominations for several groups of volunteers

  1. Abstract Reviewers: To review abstracts according to the evaluation criteria determined by the Organizing Committee.

  2. Program Committee Members: To organize accepted abstracts into sessions by theme and set the schedule within an outline determined by the Organizing Committee.

  3. Zoom Helpers: To help Organizing Committee members host one Zoom session during the conference. (You are NOT signing up to do this for the entire three days!) At least one member of the Organizing Committee will always be present, but the Conference is too large now for us to do this alone! We may ask you to do things like monitor the chat, make sure the recording has begun, or read questions from the Q&A panel to presenters. A pre-conference training session will be offered earlier during the week of the conference to go over any technical requirements. A stable internet connection is required.

  4. Leads for Affinity Social Groups: To lead an informal affinity group gathering during a social hour at the end of the day on either Wednesday or Thursday. Volunteers can identify their own topic for the affinity group, for instance: community college faculty, alt grading in large courses, research on alt grading, etc.

We seek volunteers from a variety of backgrounds, disciplinary and otherwise. To nominate yourself, please fill out this form.
